From IT Engineer to Specialty Coffee Pioneer: The Journey of Baninder Singh
15th May 2026
Baninder Singh, founder of Savorworks Coffee & Chocolate, represents a new generation of Indian entrepreneurs transforming passion into purpose-driven businesses. His journey from IT engineering to specialty coffee roasting reflects resilience, creativity, and a deep commitment to craftsmanship.
A qualified IT engineer, Baninder began his professional career at Infosys. Despite a stable corporate path, he felt drawn toward entrepreneurship and eventually joined his family’s transportation business. During this phase, he began exploring international business opportunities, which introduced him to the world of specialty coffee.
Initially planning to establish a gelato and coffee roastery in New Zealand, Baninder immersed himself in learning coffee roasting, brewing, and chocolate making. Although the overseas venture did not materialize, the experience shaped his future vision and laid the foundation for Savorworks.
In 2019, he launched Savorworks Gelato and Coffee Roasters LLP in Delhi, starting from a small cabin within his family office. Equipped with a Giesen coffee roaster imported from the Netherlands, Baninder focused on roasting premium-quality coffee beans while building a brand rooted in quality and authenticity.

To strengthen his expertise, he pursued certifications from the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA), completing intermediate levels in brewing and roasting in 2019 and later earning professional certification in coffee roasting in 2024. Unlike many café entrepreneurs, Baninder’s strength lies in being a skilled coffee roaster and business owner rather than a barista, allowing him to focus deeply on sourcing, roasting science, and product innovation.
Savorworks initially operated online, gaining recognition during the pandemic through direct coffee and chocolate deliveries. In 2021, the brand opened its first cafe in Chattarpur, New Delhi, before relocating to Greater Kailash 2 in 2025 and second outlet in Gurgaon 2026 to meet growing demand for a more immersive specialty cafe experience.
Today, Savorworks stands out for combining artisanal coffee roasting, handcrafted chocolate, and thoughtfully curated food under one roof. The brand sources beans from renowned estates like Riverdale Estate and Ratnagiri Estate, emphasizing quality, sustainability, and long-term farmer relationships.
Looking ahead, Baninder aims to expand Savorworks across metro and Tier-1 cities while continuing to build meaningful, sensory-driven customer experiences rooted in craftsmanship and innovation.
