Coffee and its high demand in youth

20th August 2025
Coffee has become more than just a drink for today’s youth, it’s a lifestyle. From busy college mornings to late-night study sessions, its aroma fuels energy, focus, and social connections. Cafes brim with young crowds, making coffee not just a necessity but also a cultural symbol of modern youth. Now, let’s understand this growing demand with professional opinions, as the following questions will explore expert insights and perspectives.
Ques 1 - As an SCA-certified professional and someone who has built Savorworks Coffee and Chocolate from the ground up, what inspired you to dive into the world of coffee, and how has your journey shaped your approach to creating unique coffee experiences for your customers?
As I reflect on my journey in the world of coffee, I am driven by a deep appreciation for the science and art of roasting, alongside the rich, deep connection with the reputed farmers behind Indian beans. As one of the few SCA-certified Roasting and Brewing Professionals in the country, this certification has shaped our professional practices and provided extensive training for our team. It establishes an international standard that serves as a benchmark for us to continually innovate and enhance our unique offerings.
I’ve observed the transformation of the Indian market, where coffee has evolved from a mere convenience item to a lifestyle beverage, serving as both a personal taste expression and a means of social connection. This shift highlights the growing demand among a diverse range of consumers, from teenagers to well-established individuals, each with their own specific choices and preferences.
Additionally, the market is filled with multiple players catering to a similar audience that appreciates coffee and chocolate. I see significant potential in exploring these two segments together, allowing us to showcase craftsmanship products without being in a race for market share. Our goal is to engage the same lifestyle audience, emphasizing the artistry and creativity in our offerings.
Ques 2 - In recent years, coffee has become a staple among young people, often tied to socializing, productivity, and lifestyle. From your experience, what do you think drives the high demand for coffee among today’s youth, and how does Savorworks cater to these preferences?
Coffee has become a staple for young people, deeply intertwined with socializing, productivity, and lifestyle choices. The fast-paced lives of today’s youth call for convenient yet enjoyable experiences, and coffee fits perfectly into that equation. Its accessibility has expanded significantly, with options ranging from mobile food delivery services to luxurious cafés, making it easy for everyone to enjoy.
The appreciation and knowledge of coffee among youth have grown considerably, not just in India but worldwide. They understand that coffee goes beyond a bitter black brew or a milky, sweet drink, seeking to explore the diverse flavors and complexities offered by specialty coffee.
At Savorworks, we emphasize emotional exploration and unique experiences through the concept of Sensory Journey, catering to all audiences seeking meaningful connections with what they consume. We broke the stereotype in 2019 by introducing “Fruits Bomb,” our flagship coffee that continues to draw attention. The name speaks for itself, creating curiosity, building connections through education, and fostering a community that appreciates high-quality products.
We adopt the same ideology in how we connect consumers with chocolate. Our 72% Vegan Dark Chocolate with Gin & Tonic infusion won the International Chocolate Award in 2024 in Hong Kong, showcasing how chocolate can have an aftertaste reminiscent of gin and tonic, something people rave about.
Ques 3 - “Coffee culture has evolved into a shared experience, especially among Gen Z and millennials. How do you see Savorworks contributing to this culture, and what role does your cafe play in fostering a sense of community for young coffee enthusiasts?”
At Savorworks, we share stories that spark curiosity and invite customers to engage in their coffee and chocolate journey. Our café in GK-II offers live roasting, chocolate making, and workshops, creating an immersive farm-to-cup and bean-to-bar experience. With unique pairings and a cozy space, we inspire exploration, community, and a vibrant youth-driven coffee culture.
